Comments This website was a great find. It clearly articulated why Melbourne had been chosen to be the location for Where the Wild Things Are. The site provided a trailer of the film but also a location video which went into further detail about the locations used for the filming of Where the Wild Things Are.

I believe the site is intended as a promotional tool for the Australian Film Industry, especially the Victorian branch. It could also be intended as an educational tool, for students such as myself, who are studying aspects of the Australian Film Industry.

The information provided on the site is of great importance as it clearly points out that here in Australia there is the technology and the facilities to make great films. The Docklands Studios in Melbourne is an example of the state of the art facilities in the country. This technology is also paired with beautiful and diverse locations that are easily accessible.

The Film Melbourne Now site provides a compelling and logical argument. The positive aspects of filming in Melbourne are clear, detailed and up to date. I believe the site to be an accurate source with reliable information. However in saying that, some bias will be undeniable as the site aims to bring more business to Melbourne. The site does use a method of promoting success stories such as Where the Wild Things Are to try and engage other potential films to the area.

Synopsis Melbourne, Australia is pleased to have been the base for Where The Wild Things Are.

Co-produced by Warner Bros Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures, the film is an adaptation of Maurice Sendak's classic children's book of the same name, where Max, a mischievous young boy, creates his own world - a forest inhabited by fabulous wild creatures who crown Max their ruler.

Where The Wild Things Are found a home in Melbourne after a worldwide scouting process spanning 18 months. It was the city's spectacular, diverse landscape and talented local film industry that stole the spotlight from competitor destinations like New Zealand, Ireland and Thailand.
