The article reiterates the well-worn concept of an 'ugly duckling' becoming a 'swan' - only after it makes stacks of cash overseas!
Synopsis
The unnamed journalist states "..after brief opening runs in capital cities here last year, the modern day version of the legendary 'The Wizard of Oz' fable seemed destined for dusty film racks".

However, after being appreciated by U.S. audiences, the ugly duckling 'Oz', emerges as the swan (resplendent with a new name, 'Twentieth Century Oz' for its U.S. release), with it "grossing in excess of $1,200,000 in the first 3 months of its American Release".

The journalist goes on to state that Lyne Helms and Chris Lofven (the films co-producers) received $100,000 up front from the U.S. distributor, InterPlanetary Pictures.
