Brief praise is offered by an American critic with little constructive comment made (exception given to comments made regarding Duigan's ability to effectively recreate the hormonally charged atmosphere familiar to teen culture.) This is largely because, the editor of the Ballarat Courier is only interested in including those sections of the article which praise the film and in particlar, Australia's prized export, Nicole Kidman. The article is printed in full in the Bendigo Advertiser (28/12/92 - page 3 [mag]). In this version of the article, thematic content is discussed with mention of Duigan's treatment of the tired 'coming-of-age' genre. I strongly advise this version. Although the article is still concerned with what an "American critic" has to say, it does, at least offer some comment whose subtext is more than 'it must be good if the American's like it!'.
