Comments The author uses the word "charm" to characterise the sequel to Duigan's original success, 'The Year My Voice Broke'. 'Flirting' is considered a successful interpretation of the "teen" film, yet lacking the emotional content of the first film. The author compares 'Flirting' to "Yank" teen pics and subsequently comes to the conclusion that it is "innocent" and "naive" in comparison. Interesting considering 'Flirting' and 'The Year My Voice Broke' both concern themselves with the loss of innocence. Perhaps we will always be a considered a nation that is wet behind the ears.

Synopsis Review and synopsis of 'Flirting' with mention made of the film's success in the 1990 Australian Film Institute Awards.
An positive conclusion is reached with praise attributed to camera work and production design.
