Comments Finney agrees film is a precious commodity and one only gets one chance to launch it.

He is also very supportive of the Australian film industry, although sometimes it doesn't seem that way as he so pro the American film product.
Synopsis An interview with Alan Finney, Managing Director of Village Roadshow Film Distributors and one of the powers in the Australian movie industry.

Talks about the future of Australian film and a new market of specialty films coming to Australia through a Showcase.

Emphasises the importance to the producer that the distributor chooses the right theatre and the right time to screen. "One must take a film from a producer and find the right parent."

There are many good specialty films out there, that if you just throw them in at the deep end against blockbusters like Batman Returns, they will drown and disappear.

Believes that a specialty film market contributes to a healthier film culture and Australian films need a healthy culture in which to thrive.
