Comments Australian Dream is an '80s version of the sending up of Australian social mores first achieved in the '70s by films such as Barry Mackenzie and Don's Party.

The final party scene is too drawn out as the same jokes are flogged repeatedly, for instance, mormons getting drunk and vomiting, is pretty hackneyed humour.

However, there are some poignant moments in the script and the continual refernces to meat are witty yet disturbing.
Synopsis Australian Dream integrates the reality and fantasy of suburban life in middle-class Brisbane. It is a satirical look at Australian suburbia via the trials and tribulations of Dorothy Stubbs, mother of two and wife to 'Butcher of the Year', Geoffrey, an aspiring politician with bandaids on his fingers, who believes "Beef builds Brains".

When Dorothy encounters Todd, a male-stripper at a suburban sex-aid party, she attempts to make her life more exciting by delving into sexual fantasies aboutTodd, only to be let down by the anti-climactic sexual encounter with Todd in the back of his panel van.
